The Centre was established in 1985 and is a K - 12 school that has
a split campus. The primary school classes are located on the grounds
of the Avonvale Primary School and the Secondary class is located at
Northam SHS. The Centre has its own administration and budget
and works in co-operation with the school on the same campus to
provide the best educational outcomes for all students.
Students are offered a placement at Avonvale Education Support
Centre after being assessed by a School Psychologist or
Paediatrician. All students who attend at the centre have been
identified with a cognitive impairment ranging from mild to
multi/severe. A diagnosis may include Intellectual Disability, Autism
Spectrum Disorder (includes PDD NOS) or Global Development Delay.
To provide a diverse range of students with a diverse range of needs
a world class education based on researched models of best practice.
In a K - 12 environment we have a responsibility to ensure that our
students are equipped as much as they can be to leave school well
prepared for their future.
